Q&A with Jaclyn Carpenter, Ideal’s CEO

What is the role of philanthropy at Ideal?

I believe that when the local community thrives, businesses will thrive and vice versa. It’s a synergistic relationship. So, I feel it’s my obligation to utilize the fruits of Ideal’s success to support community organizations that can use our help.

Are there particular causes or categories of social impact that you focus on?

Ideal’s mission and core values center around helping people to be more successful – our employees, our clients, our partners and the community. Our social impact strategy aligns with that. We’re focused on helping individuals, families and communities to overcome challenges and thrive. Whether it’s making an elderly person’s home safer, enabling someone to join the workforce, or aiding the homeless – we donate our time and money to the non-profit programs that assist them.

Here are a few examples of how Ideal “Gives Back”

Rebuilding Together San Francisco logo

RTSF helps to preserve affordable housing in San Francisco by performing critical home repairs and renovations for low-income seniors and disabled homeowners. Ideal supports the non-profit’s community rebuilding efforts by providing free building recovery services, project volunteers, and financial donations. CEO Jaclyn Carpenter is a RTSF Board Member and recently participated in a “She Builds” project staffed by an all-female crew of volunteers from the construction industry.

The Salvation Army logo

Salvation Army Harbor Light Center San Francisco is a 6-12-month social model residential treatment program for men, women and veterans seeking solutions for drug and alcohol dependence and related issues. The programs provide 360-degree approach to help clients rejoin their families and transition back into the workforce. Ideal contributes to the program’s success through financial donations and hiring program graduates.

Ideal Veterans Hiring Initiative logo

In honor of founder Butch Carpenter’s service as a U.S Marine, his daughter and Ideal CEO Jaclyn Carpenter has made it a goal to hire armed forces veterans since she took lead of the company. With the help of the veterans currently on staff, the company attends recruiting events and utilizes veteran’s networks to identify qualified candidates.
